They are very nutritious and contain a lot of Vitamins C, D, and A, which are really good for your skin. You can make a lot of delicious food with pumpkins, but you can also use it to make great skincare items. We have some great recipes for you to check out for your October skincare!
Pumpkin mask for starters
For this recipe you can use either canned or fresh pumpkin.
- 150 g of pumpkin
- 1 egg
This is a great base for your mask that you can add different things into based on the needs of your skin. If your skin is dry, you can try adding a little honey. If you have oily skin, you can add apple cider or cranberry juice.
Whisk ingredients of your choosing together and apply the mask to your face. Let the mask sit for about 15-20 minutes before you rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Pumpkin and oatmeal mask
- 2 Tbsp. canned or fresh pumpkin puree
- 1.5 Tbsp. ground oats
- 1 Tsp. Raw honey
Mix the ingredients well in a bowl. Apply the thick mixture to your face and leave the mask on for 15 minutes. Rinse the mixture of or use a spoon to scrape it of your skin. As this mixture has oats in it, it will also work as an exfoliant.
Pumpkin and almond mask
- 2 cups of pureed canned or fresh pumpkin
- 4 tablespoons unflavored yoghurt
- 4 tablespoons of honey
- 1/3 cup ground almonds
- ¼ teaspoon olive oil
Clean your skin and apply the mask. Try using it in the shower as the enzymes in the mask work better when they are moist. Leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes. Use a nice, lukewarm washcloth to remove the mixture and apply moisturizer when finished. Your skin will feel refreshed and soft throughout the day.
Vegan Pumpkin and brown sugar mask
- 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin (puréed)
- 1 tablespoon of soy yogurt or ¼ teaspoon of soy milk
- ½ teaspoon of brown sugar
This mask has brown sugar that is a perfect exfoliant. Mix all the ingredients and apply the mixture to your face. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes before you rinse of with lukewarm water.
These masks will help you keep your skin looking young and radiant. Two of them are great natural exfoliants that will clean your skin thoroughly and remove all that dirt clogging up your pores. All the antioxidants will help cell renewal and give your skin a fresh glow. The antioxidants will also help your skin fight free radicals.
So, what do you say? Do you want to try something new and exiting for your skin this fall? And remember that the rest of the pumpkin makes for a great pie or a lantern!
